What is an Autism Evaluation?
Answers shouldn't have a long waitlist.
An Autism Evaluation is a comprehensive assessment used to determine whether a child, teen, or adult meets the diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). At K-Counseling, our Certified Autism Evaluators use clinical interviews, behavioral observations, standardized assessment tools, and an FDA-cleared ADHD assessment to provide a thorough evaluation.
While many clinics have waiting lists that stretch for months, or even years; our clients are often seen within weeks. Following the evaluation, you'll receive a comprehensive written report with diagnostic findings and personalized recommendations that can support school accommodations, workplace accommodations, and other services.

How We Approach Autism Evaluations
What You Can Expect
Autism Evaluations are currently being conducted by Certified Autism Evaluator Kristina Erickson, LCSW. As demand continues to grow, additional mental health experts are completing the same specialized certification, allowing us to expand availability while maintaining the same high standard of care.
Our Evaluation process is designed to be comprehensive, organized, and supportive. We intentionally provide assessment materials in an optional printed format to reduce screen fatigue and cognitive overload, creating a more comfortable experience for you. From your initial consultation through your final feedback session, you'll receive clear guidance every step of the way.
Autism Evaluations are offered on a private-pay basis at a cost is $1,750. Payment plans are available; call 208.258.3510 to inquire.
A $250 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your place and begin the first consultation and intake documenation, with the remaining balance due before the Autism Evaluation is completed. Because we are able to schedule most evaluations within weeks rather than months or years, families can begin getting answers much sooner.
What an Autism Evaluation Can Provide
Formal diagnosis: A completed evaluation provides a clinical determination of whether ASD criteria are met, documented in a written report by a certified evaluator.
Access to accommodations: A formal diagnosis from a licensed mental health professional is typically required to access school-based accommodations, workplace supports, and disability services in Idaho.
Shorter wait time: With evaluations available through K-Counseling, clients in the Boise and Treasure Valley area can access assessment without the multi-year waits common at other providers.
Frequently Asked Questions About Autism Evaluations
K-Counseling offers evaluations for children, teens, and adults. If you are unsure whether an evaluation is appropriate, you are welcome to contact the clinic to discuss your situation before making a deposit.
The full evaluation process involves approximately 10 hours of clinical work, including a two-hour in-person appointment, intake review, assessment administration, and report preparation. The timeline from deposit to completed report will vary based on current scheduling.
Autism evaluations at K-Counseling are private pay. A $250 deposit is required to secure a spot, with the remaining balance due prior to the evaluation appointment.
If the intake materials do not flag for ASD, a clinician will contact the client directly to discuss findings and recommend next steps. K-Counseling does not proceed to the full evaluation appointment in those cases.
