Neurofeedback
WHAT IS BIOFEEDBACK?
Simply put, biofeedback is a method of gaining information by monitoring skin temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, brain waves, and other body conditions to help promote control over normally involuntary bodily processes through conditioning, also called operant conditioning and relaxation. Remember the Mood Ring? Neurofeedback is like a mood ring – only for your brain.
NEUROFEEDBACK IS A FORM OF BIOFEEDBACK
WHAT IS NEUROFEEDBACK?
Neurofeedback is a monitoring device along with electronic sensors to give information about what is going on in the brain. Simply put, it is giving feedback about specific brain waves: the percentage amount of each one in specific areas of the brain, called amplitude, are the brain waves working harmoniously or not. During Neurofeedback, the brain is repeatedly adjusting to work better. When the brain works better, you feel better. When you feel better you do better. Makes sense, right?
Simply put, when the brain isn’t working right, it is like a symphony orchestra tuning up, making a lot of noise that is unpleasant to the ear. But, when the brain is working right, it is as if the conductor has taken over and the music is orchestrated. The music is harmonious because each musician is playing their part.
